    Description

This reproduction print highlights the Wabash Railroad's "Blue Bird" that operated the busy Chicago to St. Louis corridor.
It was painted by Bern Hill, a freehand artist famous for his marketing work for Electro-Motive Division in the 1950’s. It is part of a series of promotional posters for GM's EMD Unit featuring their customer's trains.
The Wabash Railroad connected many industrial midwest cities ranging from Kansas City and Omaha in the West to Chicago, Detroit, and Buffalo. It was one of the railroads controlled by financier Jay Gould in the 1870s. The Wabash featured several popular and well-known passenger services including the Blue Bird and Cannonball. While owned by the Pennsylvania RR, it never merged and remained independent until it became part of the Norfolk & Western and Nickel Plate Road during consolidation in 1964. Today's Wabash trackage is owned by the NS.
This print is restored from the original and printed on matte cardstock photo paper which is acid-free and with Canon inks that are guaranteed for 100 years without fading.
The prints come in the frame size as specified with solid plastic trim with a glass cover. We package it to minimize the risk of damage. Please note that the watermark is visible only on website photos and it is not placed on our final poster prints.
