Arch Mcdonnell 1909-1978 is best known for his depictions of Locomotives in NH and began his carreer as a cartoonist at the Manchester Union Leader in the 1930's and 1940's.  His paintings are noted for their meticulous detail and he worked extensively from period photo's and personal observations.  His work is in many museums and private collections and Nelson Rockefeller and other notables purchased his paintings.  In the 1950's he produced a series of lithographs of his original paintings and he was nationally recognized for his paintings."
