This is a 16mm original print of the Official Films 3-reel mystery, Stand-In For Murder. It is in fairly good condition with a short main title on Kodak film stock. There is no vinegar odor. It is on a 1200' reel and has a running time of approximately 26 minutes.
Larceny in Her Heart (1946) was a feature length film that was skillfully abridged for a half-hour television timeslot and retitled Stand-In For Murder. In fact, the editing is so skillful, that if I didn't know any different, I would have thought that it was a complete half hour television show. Later, it found its way to the home market via Official Films. Directed by Sam Newfield and based on original characters by Brett Halliday.
The cast features Hugh Beaumont as Michael Shayne, Cheryl Walker as Phyllis Hamilton, Paul Bryar, Charles C. Wilson, Ralph Dunn, Gordon Richards, Douglas Fowley, Charles Quigley, Julia McMillan, Marie Hannon, Fred Aldrich, Milton Kibbee and Gene Roth.
Private-eye Michael Shayne agrees to track down the stepdaughter of the local bigwig Burton Stallings. But when his client's corpse turns up at his doorstep, Shayne finds himself reluctantly involved in yet another murder mystery.
