    Description

Santa Fe Super Chief Alco Locomotive 50A DL-109Train Rare photo.
50A was a pre WWII diesel locomotive tht saw a very limited life on the "Chief".   It did not perform well, wa noted for idleing "rough."  It was actually designated DL-107 by the manufacturer ALCO but generally was known as a DL-109 model.  The unique 3 window windshields, made the engine different from the GM-EMD E-5, E-6 etc that were favored by Santa Fe.  Most of the time the engine made the trips between Kansas City and Chicago on  various Santa Fe trains such as the "Kansas Citian" and the "The Chicagoan".
