About the Artist and His Artworks:
We are dispersing an exciting collection of Ray Robbins original paintings on paper created in the late third quarter and early fourth quarters of the twentieth century. He lived and worked in the epicenter of the industrial Northeast where coal and rail were the intertwining threads that bound the communities of the greater Pocono Mtns. with the surrounding states of New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia and Ohio as well as the Atlantic seaboard via the Delaware River at Philadelphia and the Great Lakes via Lake Erie. His passion for railroad and coal mining subjects was incredible and are now being revealed to a significant extent for the very first time with this collection. These examples come from the artist’s family and were acquired by us while on a buying trip along the Delaware River in the summer of 2017 where we were introduced to a Robbins family friend. Currently the works are in our storage where we will be retrieving small groupings periodically, so while there will be more to follow we won’t know in advance which railroads and factories will be made available until each visit to
storage. Please see our seller site for additional examples.
