This print is restored from a 1935 advertisement featuring "The Comet", a new streamlined commuter express. It was an early diesel all-aluminum engine rail set built in 1935 by the short-lived US-German consortium of the Goodyear-Zeppelin Company. It was a three-car, double-ended all-coach class trainset that could operate in both directions and thus did not need to be turned at its final destination. The all-aluminum alloy Comet was scrapped in 1951 and none survive today. It is printed on matte cardstock photo paper with Canon inks guaranteed for 100 years without fading
The New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railway was a major New England Railroad with operations in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York that was the product of nearly 100 small New England railroads. The network was founded by banker, J.P. Morgan's, through his acquisition of multiple regional transportation companies. He successfully monopolized much of the traffic between the important Boston-New York corridor. While it controlled much of the New England rail traffic, it constantly faced bankruptcy and financial challenges and in 1968 was merged into Penn Central, a product of the New York Central and Pennsylvania Railroad merger.
This print is restored from the original and printed on gloss cardstock photo paper which is acid-free and with Canon inks that are guaranteed for 100 years without fading.
