    Description

LARGE 1938 Ink Drawing Of Wabash Steam Engine #91 82x22" Chicago-St. Louis.
This is a hand drawn rolled advertisement sample for the artist Carl Rupert Davis drawn in 1937/38 of the Wabash Engine #91 on the Chicago to St. Louis line.  It depicts the authors ride on the train in 1918.  On the back it explains the scene and lists the other things the artist draws and his prices.
This is several pieces of heavy drawing paper glued together to make it 82 inches long.  It has some condition issues along the edges, as well as a couple of original areas that the artist drew over.  On the railroad track the artist notes the ink that was used to draw it and also notes that this particular brand will not fade, and he was right as the ink looks as great as when it was laid down.
This piece of detailed art is a true piece of Americana, American folk art, railroad and advertising history.  It is waiting to be framed and preserved.
