    Description

This is a Howard Fogg black and white print of M-K-T, Katy Missouri Kansas Texas Railroad steam engines. The full size measures approximately 11 5/8" x 8 5/8" and the image measures approximately 8 5/8" x 5 5/8". The engines are marked 174 and 296 on the steam stacks and are marked M-K-T on the side of the coal car.  This print is based on an oil painting by the master of train painting, Howard Fogg. I do not know the station portrayed in the print, when the print was made or the date it depicts, whether these are ALCO steam engines, or the type of steam engine. Perhaps some you railroaders may know the answers. My father worked for the Katy from the 1920s until retirement.  He started out in the St. Louis office.  He was laid off there for a time during the depression and was called back.  He also served in Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, and retired as Regional Sales Manager in Denver. While in Los Angeles he was called up early 1942 for WW II.  He returned in early 1946. He worked for the Katy for 43+ years.  He worked under many presidents including  under the presidency of John W. Barriger III.  Barriger came to Denver often and attended my father's retirement even though Barriger had retired several years before. .  I have several photos of Barriger with my father from that event.  Barriger was a close friend of Howard Fogg who lived in Boulder, Colorado. My understanding is that one of the presidents, possibly Barriger , commissioned the oil painting and employees were given prints.  I found this print in going through my father's desk.  It has the original cardboard protectors and it is in great condition. The upper right corner has a small curl.  See Photos. I am downsizing and am selling most everything including my father's Katy items. Non-smoking household. It will be shipped flat.
