This is a movie in the 16mm Sound format on one - 400' reel. It is a fairly good condition Original Print with minor wear and NO vinegar odor. It is on Kodak film stock. It was made available to the home collector's market by Castle Films. It is approximately 9 minutes in length.
Castle Films was a film company founded in 1924. Since 1937, the company pioneered the production and distribution of 8mm and 16mm films for home projection. It was renamed Universal 8 in 1977 before folding in 1984. Most film collectors started in the hobby via Castle Films.
In the 1950s, Castle released a highly successful series of Hopalong Cassidy excerpts, licensed from the series' star William Boyd.
Heart of the West (1936) Produced by Harry Sherman. Directed by Howard Bretherton. Cast: William Boyd as Hopalong Cassidy,  James Ellison as Johnny Nelson, George 'Gabby' Hayes as Windy Haliday, Lynn Gabriel, Fred Kohler, Jack Rutherford, Walter Miller and Charles Martin.
Heart of the West was the 3rd of the Castle Hopalong Cassidy films that were released between 1950 and 1955. Hopalong suggests a fence across a narrow valley to stop rustlers driving stolen cattle through.
The rustlers stampede a huge herd to crash the fence and Hoppy plants dynamite charges to turn the crazed animals just in time.
