Description

The summer of 1948 is still a cherished one by old timer railroad buffs. The lakefront in Chicago was transformed into a terrific exposition of old & new rail equipment with 39 rail companies participating. The celebration commemorated 100 years of railroading west of Chicago. Along with replicas of old locomotives the highlight was the Burlington Zephyr streamliner. The Fair was so popular it was extended for another year in 1949.
This billboard sized poster ( 60 x 43 inches) is very rare as most survivors are the small 14 x 22 size. It had been folded but the linen backing took care of those and the result is one in excellent condition and appearance.
Please be sure to see our other Railroad Exposition posters from Chicago and Germany.
