Fantastic Error of the USPS Eagle design on the Flag ATM stamp (Scott #CVP108)
This lot is for a full sheet of 10 stamps of the new "Flag" design SSK stamp (catalog #CVP108) with the USPS Eagle overprint Error.
While similar type of error overprints (with the USPS Eagle) on APC / SSK machines have been offered in the past, the KEY DIFFERENCE is that this overprint error was done by one of the new SSK (APC) ATM machines that starting being put into operation from August to October 2018.
These machines were supposed to be using using the flag design label and yet was set-up to use the "plain white (unprinted) label" .
Since this machine is of a new redesign (see photo - the new machines are gray, the old ones were blue), it was apparently not set up correctly at the factory and thus was printing the USPS Eagle design (which is supposed to be used for printing on plain white labels - which are not in use any longer, not the pre-printed flag labels)!
How can you tell that this sheet was printed on one of the new machines?  Simple - on the new machines, the human readable serial number now begins with a number, rather than a letter (which was usually A through G, followed by numbers) on the old machines.
So, the combination of the old flag design, printed from a new APC/SSK machine AND with the Eagle overprint ERROR is offered for the first time by anyone (that I know of)!    This particular error was available starting late August 2018 from machines in the Dallas, Texas area; they have since "fixed" the machines and they are now printing just the regular version of the flag stamps!
