The laser beam is so weak that it's pretty much impossible to see outside, with a little sunlight, 15' above my head over a Bronze surface almost impossible to see.I reached to the Bosch Customer Care phone number and asked about help to exchange the unit for a green laser and pay the difference, that was a no, no.The representative told me that the unit is for indoor use, but oddly enough, no matter how many times I look at the box, I cannot find that tiny piece of information there.I had a 5 dot PLS for years, never got any problems finding the dot.

This is the second bosch laser level that I've bought and the switch won't shut off. It drains the battery then when you put fresh batteries in, you have to wait for it to decide when it wants to come on. My first bosch laser level did the same exact thing. What a waste of money! Home depot should pull them off the shelves! Zero stars!

Purchased to help pinpoint the location of pendant lights off vanities. Surface is level and lasers won't stop blinking. Right out of the box. Thinking this may be the reason they discontinued item?

The design and quality is good on the laser itself, but the way BOSCH designed the magnets was made poorly. I placed it on a beam with the adjustable knob on the bottom really tight. Well, once you do that. The whole thing moves down. Other words. It has a lot of play. The magnets are loose inside. You can move the the whole thing up/down while the magnets are in place. It throws off the measurement off between 1/4”-1/2” at 20’. Needs a new design in my opinion. If there was a way to avoid that before returning it. BOSCH should have made a better video on their item on how it can be fixed. Oh well.

Misleading it doesn't come with the soft case or target shown in the photo. There is a place for them in the case, yet it is empty. Without the target it is hard to be accurate when laying out deck piers or layout and leveling off a house. Also the soft case would be useful...

I used this once over the summer after my PLS 5 finally died. We use it in place of a plumb bob to plumb the walls in new construction. I noticed that the beam was distorted and it was necessary to guess at center, whereas the PLS had an obvious center of dot. Well, i just tried to use it again and the vertical dot is so distorted that the tool has been rendered useless. I bought the same unit for my dad when I bought this one and his has the same malfunction. When it stops raining I plan to make a YouTube video in which I smash both with my 20lb sledge hammer. I do not plan to try warrantying them because the policy states that repair will be the only remedy, and my time is more valuable than that. My Bosch dishwasher died in 14 months also. This company has gone downhill big time. I blame Angela Merkel.

This Bosch laser is great for laying out square lines for all sorts of jobs. It's great for decks, wall layout, flooring and tile jobs. Shoots plumb, level, and square. This laser has you covered. The best tool in my arsenal!

We have had two units that the nut that mounts the base and allows the laser to swivel has completely come out of the plastic mold. Bosch does not warranty this,only the laser, buyer beware.

We love this laser level. We have used it to build 3 rooms in our house at this point. It self-levels and provides three full axis of laser lines to mark against. It is very solid and well built. We highly recommend investing in this level - you will not be disappointed.

Not durable for construction

I've bought two so far and won't buy another. The first one was dropped ten feet and feel apart and we couldn't get it back together. The second one. The small battery clip slid into another clip and shorted the unit out and won't come back on. In done with these. The last laser I had was a Stanley and I had it for over ten years. Looking for a new durable laser.

Bought the gpl5 to use for framing out windows and doors on welded metal buildings, on the very first use I noticed the laser was off in only 3 ft. Last building I checked it, the plumb laser was off almost a 1/2' in 16 ft. Shouldn't have to try and recalibrate it new out of the box. Very hard to see laser dot outside, even on a cloudy day.

I keep my Bosch - GPL5 with me all times. Im not only a regular construction employee. Also once we finish build we also help our costumers hanging ther pictures or design plates on dinning room master wall. Easy to carry on my backpack is with me 24/7. Also it is easy readable out doors at the time to level the ground on a manhattan townhouse backyard.

There are two main types of automatic laser levels, those like this that send out reference dots and those that paint lines for level. I have an use both. This type is used for instances where you might us an old string plumb bob in the past. It is also much easier than measuring and doing the 3-4-5 calculation for right triangle verification.

Someone put a lot of though into the 'multi-purpose attachment' for this laser. It will let you mount using most tripods. It has magnets to let you use the side or top of metal equipment or structural supports. It has screw holes with a spacer to let you mount to drywall or wood. You can also strap it to a pipe, or similar sized material, with strap slots for both vertical and horizontal mounting.

This is a great tool. I used it to keep my fence strait and true. I placed it on the corner so I could get two angles at once. It worked great. I also used it for the grade. A very nice tool. I wish I would have had it when I framed out the new room. It would be great for that application. Very well built and easy to use. I got this to possibly remove a few steps from installing audio and video systems, particularly the screen projector combo. With this i am able to not use my rotary laser and have to do 3,4,5 to get square off the center of the screen. This will be helpful. I did notice that at farther distances the laser dot does get larger which lowers accuracy, and from reading the manual it is very sensitive to heat change and many different environmental conditions. To recalibrate it you need a minimum of 75ft...Overall, i can see it being a good product, but as with other bosch tools, I expected more.

Buy a cross-line instead...

Well, I tried using this laser and got a bit frustrated because I always wished out of the box that it had a cross line instead of a dot. For the money, it should at least have a horizontal cross line. It does not work as I want it to for my line of work so I may have to trade down to a cross line. if you want any kind of plane line to use for setting cabinets or level trim etc. you need to twist on a tripod and mark your dots to get a line to set to...you get the idea, right?!!! For that, I'll just use my expensive bubble level on the wall...that's what it's for. About the only thing I can imagine it would be good for is placement of can lights based on specific features like islands, flooring details etc. So, with all that said, the construction is just OK and the battery compartment is less sturdy than I'd like it to be but I guess it works. Do yourself a favor, spend a little less and buy the cross-line laser...for the most part, this one seems a bit pointless.

Previous reviewer is right, the beams are not the brightest you can find. I have seen a bunch of different point lasers over the years and there are some out there that will give you a better laser dot for sure. But they're still plenty bright and I love this one because it's so small I can carry it with me at all times and that to me matters more. I also like the fact that it locks when you switch it off, they say it will help it keep its accuracy over time. All in all an excellent tool, I have used point lasers for a while, saves me from doing all those 3-4-5.

But they're still plenty bright and I love this one because it's so small I can carry it with me at all times and that to me matters more. Bought this to replace my Stanley(cstberger) sp5 5 beam laser that worked amazing and had 5 strong laser beams. I am a carpenter and use it 3-4 times a week. cst berger is now owned by Bosch and the new lasers coming out are very weak. This laser will only go about 25 feet with the wimpy laser that it uses. At 100 feet the dot is almost 3/4' in diameter!! The old stanley sp5 outperformed this thing.I returned it and found a new(discontinued) stanley sp5
