    Description

This is a vintage 1970 Arctic Cat, adult size 4 one-piece coverall snowmobile suit in good condition. These suits have a tight weave 400 denier nylon shell that is very durable and that breathed. They had a nylon interlining and an 8 oz allergy free polyester insulation. All seams were taped and double stitched and they kept the insulation in place even when the stitching on the quilted liner failed. This suit has a few loose or missing quilting threads but it poses no problems. The 1970 suits had the double silver and black bands around the shoulder to sleeve seam. This suit would be great to wear at the vintage snowmobiling events and meets for the guy or gal, or for display. It would also be a great way for the younger person to take part in the vintage snowmobile craze.
This is a vintage 1970 Arctic Cat, adult size 4 one-piece coverall snowmobile suit in good condition. These suits were made of a tight weave 400 denier nylon shell that was very durable and that breathed to help wick away moisture. They had a nylon interlining and an 8oz allergy free polyester insulation. All seams were taped and double stitched and they kept the insulation in place even when the stitching on the quilted liner failed, which happened quite often. This suit has a few loose or missing quilting threads but it poses no problems. The 1970 suits had the double silver and black bands around the shoulder to sleeve seam. They have the adjustable strap belt with the T-clasp buckle. Both tri-glides for the belt adjusters had 1 of the 3 bars missing and the belt settings would not stay. I improvised and made new clips from drapery hooks.
This suit has the faux fur lined collar and these suits had a pile lined chin strap that snapped on either side of the collar. It is not with this suit, nor is the zippered hood. The knit wrist cuffs are in good condition. The 1970 suits have two large double stitched front leg pockets with snapped closures. This suit has the ARCTIC CAT SNOWMOBILE "swoosh" patch on the chest. The label inside has the Arctic Cat "swoosh" design with ARCTIC WEAR lettering and the famous Arctic Cat 'Cat Head'.
This suit has the full neck to fly zipper and a snapped wind flap that covers it. All snaps are in good working order as well as the zipper. The legs have zippers that zip from bottom to about 3 1/2" below the pockets. The zippers are all the heavy duty metal zippers. The snaps at the leg cuffs work well but do have some scratches on the caps and roughness on the left one.
This suit has been worn but it is not worn out. It is ready to wear as it is. There is a little bit of fuzz at the seat but it is not bad. It does have some very light soiling.
You could wash it if you wish, but it really isn't necessary.
This suit would be great to wear at the vintage snowmobiling events and meets for the smaller guy or gal, or just for display. It would also be a great way for the younger person to take part in the vintage snowmobile craze.
The sizing in 1970 was the same for the adult men's and women's snowmobile suits, by weight. They both had the same size numbering and same measurements. The size 4 was for an adult weighing between 120 to 140 lbs. It would be the equivalent to a men's size S.
For comparison, I usually will wear a Medium. I am 5'6" and 143 lbs. This suit fits standing but does not have the extra room that I would prefer for sitting or croutching as a Medium would. While there were some some styling differences between the men's and women's suits regarding pockets, patch placements and zippers, structurally they were the same. The male model in the 1970 Accessories brochure was wearing this style suit with the leg zippers that were between the pockets and knees. It can be worn by a gal or guy.

    Wash Instructions:
Hand wash or gentle machine wash in cold or warm water with a mild detergent. Tumble dry on low setting, damp dry, then hang out of the sun to finish drying. It is best not to use an agitator style washing machine on any collectible item as they tend to do damage.
