    Description

36 years back in time to this evocative well produced reel from the twilight years of the classroom film...it's
    GEORGE WRITES
    AN ESSAY
, 16mm color sound approx. 14 minute 1985 Film Fair release filmed in Santa Ana, California. A class of middle schoolers passes out and requires oxygen when they receive their "first big writing assignment": an essay on The French and Indian War. Seems they don't know what they're doing, or maybe they don't like what they're doing, so The Host, a Cool Guy wearing a sport coat who appears with some chat and encouragement from time to time, goes along with one young student, George, as George walks home from school. Through chance encounter, George gets the angle on essay writing from a man reading a newspaper in the park, a cop writing up an accident report, some clowns, and a newspaper reporter. This is a 1985 film where a young cop laughs to herself and says "Mother Machree!"
