    Description

    This is a pair of genuine United States postage
    stamps from the Liberty Series
    featuring
    the 15 cents John Hay issue, Scott #1046. The stamps are in postally used condition with a West Sayville, New York cancellation. The pair is unusual in that the background paper has a grayish blue color and the distribution of this color is fairly uniform on the front. The pair were discovered off cover so the cause of this color change is not known. The normal stamp shown on the left in the third scan is for comparison purposes

    included. They would make an interesting addition to any collection of stamp oddities or the Liberty Series of the 1950s.
